Chronic neck pain. Found a way through it. Total badass.

Stronger

In body and confidence

Karla came to Alloy with a goal and a complication: she wanted to get stronger, but genetic neck issues had given her a history of chronic pain that made certain movements risky.

She'd tried other trainers and group fitness classes before. The problem wasn't motivation, Karla has more personality than most rooms can contain. The problem was finding coaches who understood how to adapt the training to her body rather than expecting her body to adapt to the training.

She shows up with creativity, humor, and an ability to lighten the mood that makes the whole studio better. The coaches look forward to her sessions. So does everyone else in the room.

The progress has been real. Karla can chest press 40-pound dumbbells for 6 to 8 reps. More importantly, she's learned the techniques and modifications that allow her to train effectively without aggravating her neck, and her confidence in her own physical abilities has grown because of it. She no longer trains braced for a flare-up. She trains like someone who knows her body and what it can do.

Karla is, as she would probably be fine with us saying, a total badass. She came in with a real challenge and found a way through it. That's the Alloy approach, and she's living proof it works.
